Election Could Hinge On 40-somethings
Based on the latest Gallup Poll, it's the 40-somethings who may very well decide the presidential election.
That's because right now, Barack Obama and John McCain are virtually tied in that group. Obama is a clear winner with the younger crowd, while older voters heavily favor McCain.
Quote: The Obama and McCain campaigns will do all they can turn out their solid supporters -- which will include younger voters for Obama and older voters for McCain. But their efforts at persuading voters may be most fruitful if targeted at middle-aged voters, particularly those in their 40s.

Who are you calling middle aged?
I thought 40 was "the new 30" and so those of us in our fourth decade can still be considered among the young. This really hurts my feelings.
